It's A Girl!!!
Broke the Castillon Tradition on this one!! Can you believe it? It took us a couple of days, but it has sunk in...a sweet, precious, little baby GIRL!!
As most of you know at my initial appointment to find out the gender, littlER critter wouldn't open those legs! The Dr. didn't even have a guess! I wasn't really upset, just anxious!! After all it was just so exciting to see the baby moving around in there!! I would have had to have waited another month to find out the gender, and by this time I just wanted to know!
So I immediately called fetal photos in Green River, and setup an appointment for the following evening to try again. Finding out the gender with baby number 2 was completely different than with Elijah for some reason. Jamie and I had told our friends and family we were rooting for a boy again. Girls kind of freak us out! ;O)
However when we discussed getting pregnant this time around, and all throughout this pregnancy thus far we have talked privately about our hopes also for a girl. We have been so back and forth on it! We have never discussed wanting a girl like we have this time around.
So I don't get why I was so nervous at this appointment? I was going to be happy either way right!? 5 minutes into the ultrasound there was a glimpse! The tech said I'm pretty sure that was a girl. My eyes immediately weld up with tears...I felt relief, excitement, astonishment, and unbelief. We got 5 great looks at HER, she was definitely a girl!!!
I went home and just stared at my pictures, wanting to scream it to the top of the world, that we were going to have a GIRL!!! I just couldn't believe we were going to have a girl. I guess for some reason I thought because of this Castillon Tradition, that it just was not in the cards for us this time around?
Then my phone rings, and it is my husband. He wasn't able to come with me to my first appointment, nor was he going to be there for the checkup in February, so we decided to just have the ultrasound regardless without him. He was talking so fast, I could hardly process what I was about to tell him!
So what is it? What are we having? Did you find out? I excitedly told him that we were going to be blessed by our Heavenly Father with a sweet, precious, little baby girl. He paused for a moment.
"nu uh" he said, "are you serious?!"
"yes" I replied.
"for real you aren't joking around?"
"dead serious love, its a girl, we are having a GIRL!"
Jamie was as excited, but as baffled as I was. He was home minutes later, and greeted me with a big pick me up hug with a twirl and a kiss, grabbed Elijah and explained to him how he was going to be a big brother of a sister!
He then wanted the proof, so we all sat and watched the dvd together, and looked over our photos of little miss critter! Jamie then told me how he felt that maybe he wanted a girl more than he led on, I agreed to that too :O) but I really think we would have been just as excited if it were a boy! I mean heck it is a baby, any parents would have been as excited either way right!?
As for names, we have been talking girl names for years. We have it narrowed down to 2! Penelope and Elliette (pronounced Elliot). As much as I loved Penelope for YEARS for EVER...I think we are actually leaning towards Elliette!! Ellie and Eli...doesn't get much cuter than that!!!!
