New York!

I was in New York for 7 days, I just got back on Tuesday. It was a blast! My reason for going all the way to New York was for business..but in this industry, it is definitely more like play!! I intern for a snowboarding company called shreddingbetty, we had a snowboard event at Windham Mountain. The purpose of our event was just to get the ladies out there to shred! We provided extremely discounted lift tickets, rentals, and lessons to all who purchased through our company. We also had extremely awesome goodie bags that we handed out to the ladies who signed up for Betty's Get On Board. They included skull candy headphones, Nikita shirts, stickers, POM POM wax, and lip balm. Perfume...and lot of other cool swag! Along with all that we had a couple of demo tents set up from two of our sponsors..BURTON and OMATIC. The gals were able to go and demo board, and bindings!

My main job at the event was to take all the newbie snowboarders, or people who needed rentals, and direct them through the process, and get them to their lessons. It was pretty fun! I got to meet a lot of new people, and they were all very friendly!

Myself, Jenna, Kailey, and Sarah.

And then it was time for me to relax...

After getting everyone checked in, we had some personal time to hit the slopes. I must say that I was not impressed with the mountain or the snow for that matter. But it was still fun none- the- less..I am just used to my big Utah mountains, and powder!

Icy icy icy...

I was able to finally ride with my lady interns!! It was awesome! It is so hard these days to find a girl who loves to shred, who is genuine. All these gals were more than I could have asked for.

Kai Slye!!! Represent!

Other than the main event, while I was in New York I was able to do a few other things! My first and most important stop was to the Sacred Grove in Palmyra. I went on a quick tour of the area and was able to go inside of the renovated homes of Joseph Smith and his family. After the tour I was free to enter the Grove by myself. It was beautiful. Very peaceful, and comforting. The Spirit was very strong. This was definitely one of the best experiences. After visiting the Sacred Grove, we went up to the Temple. Which isn't very different than any other..but the location of this Temple made it what it was. Simply amazing!!!

Renovated home of where the Smith family lived.

I stayed primarily in Webster, a suburb of Rochester, with one of the interns. Her name is Kailey Slye. She is 18 and is a sponsored snowboarder. We got along great! We have worked on a bunch of shreddingbetty projects together thus far, so when we met, it was like we had known one another for years!!

Hanging out at the Pier. Myself, Kailey, Juliana and Sam.

She was kinda my taxi around NY..well kinda..I guess I drove a bit more than her lol. And let me tell you..NY snow...slick...but not as rough as Wyoming snow haha.
Driving in NY was pretty cool.
Let is snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We weren't able to go to Niagara Falls and NYC as planned. It started to snow on us, so Niagara Falls was kinda pointless. And we needed a couple of days for NYC. But we were able to shop till we dropped in Rochester. Rochester's population is a tad OVER 1 million...just take that in for a minute.. SLC is one 180,000....you haven't shopped till you hit a real big city! Rochester was beautiful!! So many skyscrapers, it was amazing. I have seen plenty of pics of Rochester in my day, my uncle and his family used to live there, so he would always send us pics of him, his family and surroundings quite often..but not even those pics could have prepared me for this!

All in all my trip was well worth it!! But it feels great to be home taking care of my little family. I truly missed Jamie and our pets...but not so much cleaning up after them all lol.

If you wanna see all of my photo's from my trip check out my MYSPACE or FACEBOOK.

What a fun trip! I am way jelous. So - my sister -in - law went snowboarding over the Thanksgiving break - she broke both her arms. Maybe we should have had you give her some lessons. I'm glad to see you are doing so well.
